About Me
My name is Caitlyn Irish and I am a senior Marine Affairs Major with a minor in English and Writing at the University of New England! I live in Thornton, NH right in the heart of the White Mountains and the Lakes Region. I am a member of the Women’s Lacrosse Team here at UNE, so I love to stay active whether it be going for a run or taking a hike with my family in the summer. Another love of mine is the ocean and the efforts needed to protect such an important resource.
I originally came to UNE as a Marine Biology major but half-way through my second semester I realized that my interests did not lie in research but instead in the conservation and stewardship of the oceans. Through the marine affairs program I hope to find a job where I will be able to educate the public and future generations on the role that we as a society have in the longevity of the organisms and resources that exist in the oceans.
I will be graduating this May and am excited to enter into the professional world. I have accepted an internship this summer working as an Education Program intern at the Squam Lakes Science Center in Holderness, NH. This experience will allow me to understand more about how a not-for-profit organization functions and will allow me to form relationships with others who share a passion for the environment.
