My name is Caitlyn Irish and am a senior Marine Affairs student with a minor in English and Writing at the University of New England. I am applying for the …. Internship for this summer. I heard about your internship program through the Career Services Office at my university and was further interested when told of this particular program. Upon my graduation, I aspire to be a part of a non-profit organization that prides itself on being a leader in environmental education and outreach. The … would be a wonderful place to gain valuable experience for my professional career.

I have had various jobs and volunteer opportunities that have prepared me with the necessary skills to succeed in this position. I had the opportunity to work as a camp counselor in the summer of 2018, assisting in developing a weekly curriculum for the camps theater and outdoor activity programs. The experience provided me with an understanding in the value of hands-on learning for children. Also, it allowed me to become more confident by learning to communicate effectively with children as well as my peers. As a student building manager at my university, I am responsible for helping to provide a safe and secure space for students, faculty, as well as visitors that utilize the facility. Through this position I have gained the important skills of time management as well as organization.

As a Marine Affairs student I am aware the importance that environmental education holds in today’s society. More than ever communities should be provided knowledge of why we should value the environment. Environmental concerns from climate change are not just talked about but are now being seen as well. Therefore, it is necessary that everyone is able to understand how they can contribute in protecting ecosystems and the resources they provide. I am highly motivated to achieve this so that every visitor that arrives to…feels empowered to make a positive change in their environment.
