DS106: What They Might Have Done in Social Media
For this assignment I chose Mary Wollstonecraft, a women famous for her book A Vindication of Women’s rights where she addresses why women should have the right to equal education just like men. For the Fakebook page I chose to document some main events in her life up to the point of when she has her second child and dies 11 days afterwords. Check out the page here.
I first learned about Mary Wollstonecraft in my Women in the Modern World class that I took this past semester. She peaked my interest because she took it upon herself to show women why they should be educated just the same as men. She did this with knowing that if she didn’t say something women would keep on living the same lives of not being able to pursue any career and remain cleaning the household forever.
The tweet I chose to write was for when her famous work A Vindication of Women’s Rights came out in 1792. I feel as though she would have wanted this broadcasted to every woman in the world and while I’m sure she got the word out to many of people in London, social media would have provided her with the chance to inform women across the world of her book and why they should read it.
