WRT 233
Professional & Technical Writing
This course was taken during the Spring semester of my Junior year. It fulfilled a course requirement for the Discipline Specific section of my Writing minor. I was really excited to have taken this course because it helped me feel prepared to enter into the professional world. The units in the course consisted of creating a resume, cover letter, newsletter, and a business brochure. I was able to work on those items like my resume and have my peers view it and provide me with helpful feedback. That was something really unique about this course and why I recommend others to enroll in it.
“Students in Writing 233 will learn a number of principles involved in business and in technical communications. They will analyze specific rhetorical situations to craft messages that meet the purpose of the communication, the needs of the audience, and the relevant context. In addition, students will consider the appropriate media through which to communicate such messages. Working individually and collaboratively, students will produce both common office documents such as memoranda, letters, proposals, reports and technical documents such as instructions and fact sheets.”
